My journey to a healthier lifestyle!

Tag Archives: Exercise

I have my 5K in about a week so I am crazy busy with train and catching up with some school work now that I have a nice quiet house :). The next few weeks are going to be crazy!!!! I have a job interview, that I have a seriously good chance of getting, for something I LOVE!!!! I also have several doctors appointments. And of course my lovely 5K 🙂

I was watching The Biggest Loser a few days ago and the contestants were actually running a 5K. I got so motivated watching that show! It is crazy how things come into your life at the time you need them. So in my mind I know that if 300+ pound people can run/jog a 5K without really training for I know I can do it as well!

I cannot wait to update you on how my 5K went!!!!

**I promise as soon as my 5K is over I will post more recipes 😉

Haven’t been on here for several days, I have been super busy!!!! I am training for my 5K (2 WEEKS AWAY!!!), getting insurance switched over (so we can start trying for a baby), filing taxes- no comment on how annoying that is!, interviewing pet sitters, planning our anniversary/celebrate baby making trip ;), job applications, school, and preparing for my hubby being gone for a few weeks starting next weekend….

Like I said I have been busy!!!! It is 5 in the morning here and my hubby’s alarm is about to go off….

Just wanted to hop on and make sure you didn’t think I forgot about you 😉

I am VERY excited to announce that I am running my first 5K in 2 weeks!!! I am doing the Color Run. If you haven’t heard of it you should really check it out! Great for beginners. The next couple weeks I will be training my butt off! This is just the push I need to start being serious about exercising again!

The season of “The Biggest Loser” I am watching for some motivation is the “No Excuse” season. Probably my favorite one I’ve seen so far.

As I am laying in bed tonight I think of all the excuses I have come up with just today for not being healthy. I could list off about 20 right off the top of my head. “I’m too sore” “I can’t do it” “It’s just easier not to””But my husband isn’t eating healthy”. And the list goes on. But the difference between me now and me 2 months ago is I’m refusing to give in to my excuses.

As I posted before, I am training for to run a 5K along with that I just started doing Insanity. Days like today I feel crazy for trying to do both. I woke up this morning and it hurt to walk down the stairs. My whole body was sore. I came so incredibly close to just throwing in the towel for today and chilling out on my couch eating potato chips and being unhealthy. Then I looked at how far I have come in just a few weeks. I knew that I had to keep pushing. If everyone stopped when things got uncomfortable, nothing would ever get done!

And now more sore and tired than yesterday, I want more!! I’m loving the feeling of being sore, tired, and sweaty! It is a sign of a good workout!! I believe I can do this and I’m proving to myself everyday that I am stronger than I think I am!

I have a couple tips today…

1) DON’T EVER EVER EVER GIVE UP!
2) Believe in yourself
3) Try and find a workout buddy. Finding someone that has similar goals is a simple way that I keep myself motivated and going at it everyday as hard as I can!
4) Pictures don’t lie! I try and take a couple “before” pictures every couple of weeks. So when I feel like quitting I can see how far I’ve gotten!
5) DON’T EVER EVER EVER GIVE UP

What are some thing you do to stay excuse free and motivated?

I am very excited to announce that I will be training to run a 5K tomorrow! I have never ran before but I do enjoy walking and being outdoors. Walking gives me a good exercise where I feel accomplished but not so tired where I can’t do my yoga or other exercises the same day. I found a really great training program for beginner runners. And when I say beginners I mean for people that have never exercised or ran ever. It is a 9 week program and it is set up in a way that won’t leave me feeling discouraged! If you would like more info you can go here. Weather too cold to run? No problem. You can find the treadmill version here.

I’ll be sure to keep you posted on my progress!!!

I would always choose goals that made me become obsessed with what the scale said. This time I tried a different approach. I made a list of goals that were simply things I wanted to do but never thought I could because of my weight.

Some stuff as simple as wearing shorts or going swimming (both things I wouldn’t do because I was ashamed of my body), other stuff that would push me, like running a 5K.

Once I stopped putting so much pressure on the scale to give me my magic number I found I was less stressed about being healthy. I started focusing on one day at a time. Trying to push myself more and more each day. Not because I wanted to reach a certain weight but because I wanted to be healthy.

For me, any day I choose to be healthy is way more important than what a scale says!
